  • Mission

Jacari fights educational inequality in Oxford by providing free, one-to-one home tutoring to disadvantaged children who speak English as an additional language. Our scheme raises pupils' confidence and attainment in school, empowering them to achieve their full academic potential.
  • Brief history

Jacari was initially founded by Oxford University students in the 1960s as a campaign group against racial intolerance in the city. Over the years we have morphed into an educational charity, linking with Oxford Brookes University and, more recently, opening a second branch in Bristol.
